AI didn't take a summer break this year.
The three leaders in generative AI — Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic — continue to widen the gap by enhancing their models and integrating super useful features into their chatbots.
Here's a recap of the major updates for fall 2025, ready to be directly applied to your professional daily routine:
1/ Upgrade to GPT-5 (even in Copilot)
Equivalent to the previous reasoning model o3, which we highly recommended at Side School, GPT-5 is now available to all (both free and paid accounts) and serves as the base model for Microsoft Copilot.
GPT-5 automatically decides when to do online searches for up-to-date information, when to switch to reasoning mode for in-depth analysis, when to write code for complex actions... It's an excellent generalist that we use daily.

2/ Record your meetings directly in ChatGPT
Perhaps the most overlooked announcement of the past three months: the meeting recording feature is highly practical. The "Meeting Recorder" is, however, reserved for paid accounts on the Mac and Windows app (mobile release expected later in 2025).
ChatGPT transcribes and summarizes up to 2 hours of recordings, in any language. As always, remember to ask for participants' consent at the beginning. In the same conversation, you can then generate follow-up emails and documents relevant to the meeting — for example, a business proposal after a call with a prospect. We now use this feature every day at Side School!

3/ Try Gemini again.
Google is making strides to catch up and is improving its Gemini 2.5 model. Many French companies whose internal chatbot relies on Gemini will directly benefit from these advances in the coming months.
In early September, Google caused a stir with the "Nano Banana" image model integrated into Gemini. After multiple tests, our results are rather disappointing: for image generation, we are sticking with ChatGPT.

4/ Use ChatGPT for monitoring with "Tasks"
Introduced in 2025, recurring tasks were initially under-utilized. With GPT-5 as the default model, they finally allow the production of truly useful reports and monitoring.
To activate this feature, write a prompt like:
"Every Monday at 10 a.m., generate a 5-point summary of the latest news in my industry [x] using y, z, etc., and search for this information yourself."

5/ Send emails and create appointments from ChatGPT
Yes, there are many updates for ChatGPT — and they are well-deserved. The "Connectors" section in settings allows you to link your account to Gmail and Google Calendar (the Microsoft suite - Outlook, etc. — is coming "soon").
Once connected, in a new conversation, you can ask which emails or meetings are important to prepare, initiate searches on participants, etc. In short, ChatGPT continues its logical evolution towards a very powerful personal assistant.

Happy fall to everyone, and see you soon for another Side School newsletter
